Wine Love Wednesday - February 2016

Featured in Just for Women

The first Wine Love Wednesday of 2016 was a huge success! In coordination with Homegrown Huntsville and The Eaves restaurant, Church Street Wine Shoppe hosted a full house of guests for this amazing event featuring over 20 hidden gems of the wine world. Each featured bottle was awarded 90 points or more by wine experts and was priced at less than $20! With the opportunity to taste so many delicious wines at such a low price point, this Wine Love Wednesday event was a wine lover’s dream!

“My favorite of the night is definitely the Chateau Rigaud Faugeres,” said one attendee of the red blend all the way from France. “It’s a delicious wine with just the right amount of spice, and it goes so well with the brownie.” The brownie mentioned here, a chocolate bacon brownie with blackberry whiskey sauce, was by far the favorite food pairing; it wasn’t long into the night before that plate was completely empty.

Guests have the opportunity to taste more than 20 wines at every Wine Love Wednesday event, but some people pick a favorite early on. “I’ve tried many wines tonight, but I keep coming back to this one,” another guest said, pointing at the Ferrari Carano Fumé Blanc, a Sauvignon Blanc from Sonoma County. “I couldn’t believe it when I saw that it was only $13.98!”

Every wine featured that night was showcased because of its amazing taste and great value, but there were definitely standouts. The Insurrection Red Blend, a day-to-day favorite at the Shoppe, retails for the low price of $11.98 – an amazing value for a wine rated 90 points by Wine Enthusiast. There were two others, though, that give you even more bang for your buck and stole the show that night; the Louis Martini Cabernet Sauvignon and the Root 1 Cabernet Sauvignon, both awarded 90 points by Wine Advocate and Wine & Spirit respectively, sold for only $10.98!

Church Street Wine Shoppe was happy to partner with Homegrown Huntsville, the locally owned business that brings you events like the Beer Hop and Dine n Dash, and The Eaves restaurant, which provided the delicious food pairings to accompany the wine. This fun and educational collaboration went off without a hitch, and kicked off the New Year in the best way possible!
