August 13th marked the final Grotto Lights Concert of the season, and Downtown Huntsville, Inc. ended this amazing summer series with a bang by hosting Huntsville’s Largest Outdoor Picnic. Locals were invited to find a spot on Big Spring Park’s vast lawn to enjoy fun family activities and shop local businesses, including our new concept, Purveyor!
Church Street Wine Shoppe was so happy to participate in this event with DHI and give Huntsville a taste of what’s to come with Purveyor. We had a selection of gourmet picnic baskets available, and each purchase granted the buyer preferred seating on the lawn and a great view during the concert.
But we weren’t the only food source on-site – local food trucks including Fire & Spice, Gourmet Grits, Hindsight Coffee, and many more were also in attendance to serve up some tasty eats. As always, the bricks and mortar shops on the Square were also open and serving up their own fare.
A few other businesses joined in on the celebrations too – Dress Up Boutique from The Shops at Merchant Walk opened a pop-up shop to the public, and LifeSouth parked nearby to encourage blood donations.
The picnic ended with an amazing performance by SXSW alums, the Wolves of Chernobyl, which was a great end to the Grotto Lights Concert Series. Huntsville’s Largest Outdoor Picnic was a wonderful chance for Madison County locals to meet their neighbors and shop with local businesses, and it was the perfect way to end the summer season.
If you missed it, locals will get a second chance to preview Purveyor this fall during the Big Spring Crush wine festival in coordination with Homegrown Huntsville before we open to the public in the New Year along with the other amazing businesses at The Avenue. The Grotto Lights Concert Series will be back next summer, and we can’t wait to see what DHI has lined up for us!
